Effect of maternal high histidine levels on activity and maze retention in the rat.

چکیده
Groups of pregnant rats were maintained on either a histidine-high diet, or received periodic injections of C-nitromethane, or they received both treatments throughout gestation. Later, the offspring were tested in an open field for activity in a maze-learning task and retested for the retention of the maze habit. Results showed that both nitromehane injections and histidine-high diets resulted in impaired performance. On the open field test, the experimental subjects were more active, and on initial learning of the maze pattern they demonstrated a learning deficit. However, when retested 7 and 30 days later, they showed no deficit in retention of the maze habit. In addition, an analysis of covariance indicated that the hyperactivity and learning deficit were independent characteristics of maternal hyperhistidinemia.

The Effect of Alpha-Lipoic Acid on Learning and Memory Deficit in a Rat Model of Temporal Lobe Epilepsy
Introduction: Epilepsy is a chronic neurological disorder in which patients experience spontaneous recurrent seizures and deficiency in learning and memory. Although the most commonly recommended therapy is drug treatment, some patients do not achieve adequate control of their seizures on existing drugs. New medications with novel mechanisms of action are needed to help those patients whose sei...
متن کاملThe Effect of Hydroalcoholic Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) on Memory Retention Deficit in Young Offspring Rat Induced by Maternal Sleep Deprivation
Background: Maternal sleep deprivation is known to reduce neurogenesis in the hippocampus during pregnancy. Also, it damages and impairs cognitive functions such as learning and memory in the neonates. Objectives: Rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) extract can play an important role in the treatment of cognitive impairments by inhibiting oxidative stress. This study aimed to investigate the r...
متن کاملThe Effect of Maternal High-Fat Feeding on Energy Homeostasis in Stressed Adult Male Rat Offspring
Introduction: In the present study the effect of chronic maternal high-fat diet consumption on energy homeostasis and glucose metabolism in response to chronic stress was investigated in adult male rats. Materials and Methods: Female rats were divided into two groups of normal and high fat diets. Each group received their diet from 3 weeks before pregnancy until the end of lactation. At 8 weeks...
متن کاملEvidence for Histidine Residues on Plasma Membrane Phosphatidate Phosphohydrolase from Rat Liver
Objective(s) Phosphatidate phosphohydrolase (PAP) catalyzes the dephosphorylation of phosphatidic acid to yield Pi and diacylglycerol. Two different forms of PAP in rat hepatocyte have been reported. PAP1 is located in cytosolic and microsomal fractions and participates in the synthesis of triacylglycerols, phosphatidylcholine, and phosphatidylethanolamine, whereas the other form of phosphati...

Introduction: Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a enfeeble neurodegenerative disorder characterized by increased β-amyloid (Aβ) deposition and neuronal dysfunction leading to impaired learning and recall. Among proposed risk factors, impaired cholinergic transmission is a main cause for incidence of disease. Methods: In the present study, effects of the intracerebroventricularly administration of an ...
